An inquiry about axe skills...
Anyone else notice that when using axe skills such as executioners strike or cleave, they do less damage than regular non-skill axe attacks quite often? Is this a bug or legitimate warrior-hate?

That's the tradeoff you get for having higher max and lower min. compared to final thrust, executioners is inferior. Compared to galrath slash, it isn't. If you wanted to pvp and you wanted spike damage, bring eviscerate and executioners.

only 7 hits to charge. Thats one less then dismember, and the equivalent of executioners. You'll be doing at least 142 damage (taking the deep wound into account) with level 16 axe mastery. Oh, if you DONT have level 16 axe mastery, you won't see as good results.

Hmm...I have a question, does level 13 to level 15 axe mastery give a significant boost in damage?

Yeah, 40 damage boost eviscerate. If you use a major vigor, fortitude, and modded life shield, its worth it to use a sup rune.

How much damage would it give to regular axe attacks on average? Or a special attack like executioners strike?

Axes are one-handed too
The axe damage range is much greater than that of a sword, so it's possible to pull a max damage critical hit with a normal swing for, say, 76 points of damage and then the next swing when you hit executioners you get a minimum hit + executioners for less than the 76. However, when executioners kicks in on a critical hit it's sweet Even at level 10 axe mastery I've had 110+ damage attacks. |
